Driving Licences

You can drive on any full foreign driving licence for up to 12 months but after that you will need a full UK driving licence.

The UK Driving Test includes both practical and theory tests.

Electricity

In the UK the electricity supply is 240 volts at 50 hertz (cycles). You will also need to change the plugs on all electrical appliances to British plugs with three rectangular pins, or use a suitable adaptor.

Smoking

Tipping

It is normal to tip in eating establishments such as restaurants and cafes at a rate of 10 per cent of the total bill. However some establishments levy a service charge on top of the bill as standard practice and you may wish to check this before leaving a further gratuity. It is not common practice to tip bar staff in clubs and pubs unless you are eating there. You would normally tip taxi drivers, hairdressers, hotel staff (but not those in guest houses or B&B establishments which are normally run by the owners).

Vaccinations

No vaccinations are required prior to visiting Scotland.
