Funding Available for Tourism-Related Projects

With the closing date for the latest round of funding from the Innovation and Development Fund fast approaching, the judging panel are keen to hear of any innovative schemes which will encourage more visitors to spend time in Angus and Dundee.

“The Innovation and Development Fund, which is jointly funded by Angus & Dundee Area Tourism Partnership and Destination Dundee, has a large pot of money just waiting to be shared out to tourism-related schemes or projects which we feel are worthy of investment,” said Mark Munsie of Destination Dundee. “Applications close in just over two weeks so we’re encouraging anyone looking for financial support for innovative, tourism-related ideas to submit an application.”

Funding, which can range from a couple of hundred pounds to a maximum of £20,000, is awarded at the discretion of the judging panel. Over the last year, schemes which have received funding from the Innovation and Development Fund include a special pass offering money-saving vouchers for local visitor attractions, a quad biking adventure trail, online marketing for a local music festival, an independent feasibility report on the demand for romantic breaks in the Angus countryside and the publication of a visitor leaflet about a little-known Dundee park.

“We never fail to be amazed by the diversity of applications to this fund,” continued Mark Munsie. “No idea is too small or too big for us to consider. If you, your company or your organisation has an idea which will help generate additional visitors to this area, especially if it involves working with others, don’t hesitate to let the Innovation and Development Fund know about it as soon as possible.”
