Mr Philip Long has been appointed as the Director of the V&A at Dundee. Mr Long is currently Senior Curator of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and leads the National Galleries of Scotland's Artist Rooms project. As Director of the V&A at Dundee he will lead the project to establish an international centre for design on the banks of the River Tay. Councillors will be asked on Monday (April 25) to agree to a bid being made for UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) Creative City Status in Media Arts.  The city development committee will hear that the network has 27 members across the world, with the category of media arts only currently represented by Lyon. New statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that Flybe's Dundee to Birmingham service, operated by franchise partner Loganair, is Scotland's most punctual air link.  As Flybe celebrates its first anniversary tomorrow (Thursday, May 21) of providing air services from Dundee, the CAA data for the year ending December 31, 2008, shows that 93.7% of flights between Dundee and Birmingham were on time. This compares to the UK average of just 77%.</p>
