The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery & Museum Re-opens To The Public

The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery and Museum, which is managed and operated by Dundee City Council's Leisure & Communities Department, has been closed to the public to undergo an exciting and extensive refurbishment programme, entitled 'Who We Are'. Funded by Dundee City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the European Union, Historic Scotland, and with additional contributions from The McManus Fundraising Appeal, the multi-million pound project is now complete, bringing the 143 year-old facility into the 21st century.

Beautiful open gallery spaces have been created, with state-of-the-art displays and new interactives, in what is now a 'must-see' attraction in the heart of Dundee, and Tayside. A Creative Learning Suite has been installed, featuring the latest equipment for workshops and classes. A new retail area and a cafe with an outdoor terrace are just some of the other highlights, designed to improve the overall visitor experience. Of course, while all these enhancements have been made, this magnificent Victorian, Gothic building still retains all of its original architectural features.

The 'revitalised' McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery & Museum re-opened its doors to the public on Sunday 28 February 2010.

Admission is free.
