New General Manager Mike Metcalfe .. delighted to be back in the City

After 8 years in various regional roles across the UK hotelier Mike Metcalfe former Chair of Angus and Dundee Tourist Board is back in Dundee as the new General Manager at the Landmark Hotel.

Most recently working with Hilton Worldwide at the Treetops Hotel in Aberdeen Mike lives in Newport on Tay with his wife Kate, two sons Ben and Robert and not least he says his two black Labradors.

Mike previously managed the Hotel as the Swallow Hotel throughout its most successful period of the 90’s and says he is delighted to be back both at the Hotel and working in Dundee.

BDL Hotels purchased the Swallow in 2008 and have transformed the site into The Landmark Hotel with over £4.5m investment in stylish new bedrooms and public areas. Mike now sees the Landmark as once again one of the leading Hotels in the city and his role is to build on an already growing reputation for individual service and style.

“I have lost none of my passion for this Hotel nor for the City that I now consider as my home. I am really impressed with what new owners BDL Hotels have achieved. They have successfully created a contemporary stylish modern hotel around the original listed Scottish Mansion House, and for me the Hotel’s conservatory restaurant, traditional Box garden and landscaped grounds create a fantastic Hotel product and a perfect venue for business guests and for weddings and private functions.

Not all customers want the big brand experience and The Landmark definitely has the product quality to more than match the big brands but now also has an individuality in style and service that should make it the first choice for business and leisure in the City.

Focus on customer service has always been a feature of my management style, seeking to build long term customer relationships and I am really looking forward to working once more with former business contacts and to meeting many new customers.”

BDL aim to continue their investment with further development of a new build banqueting suite in 2011 and for the coming Autumn and festive season now offer a fully heated and serviced marquee for functions and events.
