Travel by Air The desirable location of Dundee and Angus provides visitors with a unique journey to their destination. To the south, the Tay Road Bridge and it's near neighbour, the Rail Bridge, (the longest rail bridge in Europe), cross the River Tay giving travellers a stunning panoramic view of Dundee and the surrounding countryside.

From the north of Scotland, visitors travel through the wooded countryside of Royal Deeside to the fertile farmlands of Angus.

To the west lies Perthshire and the Carse of Gowrie, famous for the exceptional soft fruits that are provided in abundance each year.

Eastward lies the moody waters of the North Sea, base to many of the country's oil vessels.

The Traveline Scotland, initiative has been launched by the Scottish Executive which aims to help people travel around Scotland more easily.

Dundee Airport provides a fast and frequent service between Dundee and Belfast, Birmingham and London City Airport, with ongoing connections from London to all major European destinations. In addition, delegates can fly in to Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen International Airports from other UK airports or from transatlantic and European departure points.

The international airports at Aberdeen and Edinburgh are within a 1 hour drive from Dundee, with Glasgow only 1 hour 30 minutes away.

From Aberdeen

Aberdeen airport is 7 miles north-west of the city centre on the A96 near Dyce.

You can get a train to Dundee by either :

hopping on one of two buses that operate between the airport and the city centre;

First Aberdeen (First Bus – Service 27) +44 (0)1224 650 065 (daytime service, not weekends) and Stagecoach Bluebird (Jet Service 727) +44 (0)1224 597 590, Disability Helpdesk +44 (0)1779 470 077 (running 7 days a week with limited stops for a faster, more direct service). Climb off at the city centre bus station which is opposite the mainline railway station in Guild Street, Aberdeen to board a train to Dundee. A bus journey to the centre of Aberdeen takes about 30 minutes in average traffic, longer at peak times. Exact fare is required on all First Aberdeen buses.

If you are arriving on a late flight, please check the details of the last available bus, especially at the weekends when they are less frequent.

take a taxi from the airport, ComCab +44 (0)1224 353 535 operates a service from the terminal forecourt at Aberdeen Airport.

Turn left for the taxi rank where a taxi marshaller will assist you in getting on your way as soon as possible. Pre-booked Comcab taxis are arranged by the Comcab booking office accessed by turning right from the main entrance. All taxi fares are metered. Many vehicles are fitted with Chip & PIN payment terminals (a transaction charge applies).

In light traffic, a journey to the city centre takes about 25 minutes and costs approximately £15 to the city centre, while a journey to the nearest railway station, Dyce, costs £6-£7 and takes 5-10 minutes. Fares and journey times will be greater when traffic is heavy. Please refer to the Approximate Charges board within the taxi shelter for more information. The nearest rail station to the airport is Dyce, which is about two miles from the terminal and easily reached by bus or taxi. From Edinburgh

Edinburgh Airport is 8 miles (12km) west of the city centre.

Edinburgh's main rail stations, Waverley and Haymarket are in the city centre.

You can get a train to Dundee by either :

hopping on the Airlink 100 or N22 Night bus into the city departing from stand 19 on the terminal forecourt, outside the main entrance hall (operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a journey time of about 25-30 minutes to Waverley Bridge in normal traffic).

Frequency of the Airlink 100 is every 10 minutes (early services every 20 minutes) and tickets cost approx £3.50 for a single, £6.00 for a return (reductions for children) and can be bought from the airport information desk, at the bus stop, from the driver or in advance online. Frequency of the N22 Night bus is every 30 minutes with a £3.00 flat fare (unlimited travel for one night).

Climb off at Waverley Bridge, near Princes Street and Edinburgh’s main railway station (Waverley) to board a train to Dundee (this stop is on the bus route from airport to city centre). Combined train and bus tickets are available to or from any rail station in Scotland.

Pre-booked private hire taxis can be arranged via Edinburgh City Private Hire. The collection point / rank is located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, directly opposite the Terminal, Tel +44 (0)131 477 4000.
City "Black Cabs" can be found outside the east (UK Arrivals) end of the Terminal building.

Passengers arranging pre-booked taxis from other areas will find the collection point / rank is located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park, directly opposite the Terminal.

The average fare to the city centre/railway station is £18, and typically takes about 25 minutes. Many taxis are wheelchair accessible.

taking the new Edinburgh tram system.

Construction of the new Edinburgh tram system is now under way and will become operational within the next few years. The tram will run every 10 minutes and link the airport to the city centre. There will also be interchanges at Gogar, Edinburgh Park and Haymarket railway stations. Other stops include Murrayfield Stadium and Princes Street.

From Glasgow

Glasgow Airport is about 20 minutes from the city centre and just two minutes from the nearest town, Paisley.

You can get a train to Dundee by either :

hopping on one of two buses available from the terminal forecourt, the Glasgow Shuttle (Service 500 – airport’s official Glasgow shuttle) from Bus Stop 1 or the Airlink City Service (Service 747) from Bus Stop 8.

First's Glasgow Shuttle provides you with the most direct service between the airport and Glasgow city centre with links to Glasgow's two main rail stations – Central and Queen Street – and the main bus terminus, Buchanan Bus Station. Climb off at Glasgow’s Queen Street Station to board a train to Dundee. Buses run every 10 – 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes at weekends (Airlink City Service), with a journey time of approximately 25 minutes to Queen Street Station (journey time with Service 747 is approx 48 minutes to Buchanan Bus Station).

Glasgow Shuttle (Service 500) ticket costs approx £5.00 for a single, *£7.00 for an adult same day return and *£7.50 for an open adult return (*restrictions apply).

Airlink City Service (Service 747) ticket costs approx £3.90 for a single and £5.00 for a return.

All buses are low-floor for easy accessibility and have luggage racks. Free wi-fi access is also provided on Glasgow Shuttle buses to help you make the most of your journey time.

take a taxi from the airport to Glasgow city centre/Queen Street Station, cost is approximately £20- £22 (as regulated by Renfrewshire Council), depending on traffic. Prices for longer journeys may be negotiated with the driver.

The taxi rank is at the front of the terminal building, a short walk from UK Arrivals. Taxi drivers are obliged to meter the entire journey and publish their scale of charges.
