How has COVID-19 Affected Our Relationship With Food?

The James Hutton Institute, along with other colleagues from a consortium across Europe, is examining if the pandemic has changed our relationship with food. The study will look at how eating, cooking and food shopping patterns have changed in the UK, Europe and across the world.

Anecdotally, local food shopping for locally produced food seems to have increased at the same time as supermarkets and online outlets have become busier and experienced record growth.

The research will look into how food related habits have changed in different populations and what this means for food systems, sustainability, tackling food poverty and the impacts on climate change.
