Ground breaking advances for the global space industry have been supported by pioneering work in the region.
The senior prize of the European Solar Physics Division of the European Physical Society has been awarded to a Professor at The University of St Andrews. Eric Priest has been recognised for his contributions in the topics of solar magnetohydrodynamics, particularly magnetic reconnection in the solar atmosphere and solar coronal heating. The award is given once every three years and is considered to be the most prestigious solar physicist award in Europe.
