Dundee’s technological experts have advanced the possibilities of space travel. Researchers at the University of Dundee have developed SpaceWire – a technology similar to USB – which allows for the transfer of data in space. It’s already been used on a mission to Mercury – who knows where it will boldly go next?

Professor Steve Parkes founded the University of Dundee’s Space Technology Centre and helped start STAR-Dundee Ltd which supports users and developers of SpaceWire, a standard for data communications onboard satellites and spacecraft.
