At the first Solanaceae conference held in the UK, it attracted over 300 delegates from around the world including Asia, Australia and North America. The Bureau was exceptionally supportive in helping us bid for and secure the SOL2010 conference. They provided online delegate registration, travel and accommodation facilities, making the process very simple and straightforward for our international visitors. The local knowledge DACB have of the area was also key to sourcing and selecting the right venues for the event and they worked with us to create a social programme which would leave a lasting impression, including whisky tastings to dinner and Ceilidh dancing at Guthrie Castle. The feedback we received was very positive and holding the conference in Dundee and Angus has helped raise the international profile of the James Hutton Institute.
