Artificial intelligence to help diagnose skin cancers

Researchers and clinicians from the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside hope to develop technology capable of diagnosing skin cancer after benefitting from a major UK Government investment in artificial intelligence. Described as having ‘state of the art accuracy’, the technology will now be used to image data from NHS clinics. One in five GP consultations are related to skin disease and NHS Scotland spends £100m per annum on secondary care services treating skin disease.
